Preface:  After the plans for the week of June 22 fell through, we are hoping that moving the reunion to 3 weeks later works better for everyone.

Hi Everyone,
As you may or may not have already heard, planning has begun for another Baker Family Reunion this summer in the Salt Lake City area, tentatively to start Saturday, July 13, 2013, and continue for the next 2 days, ending on Monday, July 15.  We would like like to start similar to the one we did in 2010, with a picnic at a location in the Salt Lake City area, with the exact park yet to be determined.  Beyond that, no other details have been planned -- and we would like to enlist your input for things to do.

Following the reunion, for those who are interested and available, we have also tentatively planned to drive north to Montana's Glacier National Park (about a 10 hour drive) for some sightseeing and hiking for 3 days.  For those who would like to camp, we hope to get a group camping reservation for at least one of the nights.  Details on this excursion are still being put together, but your interest in joining us in this venture is requested.  Obviously, the logistics for this are a bit more challenging, with both camping and motel reservations to consider.

So if you are able to plan this far out, I would like to request that you let Beverly, Bruce, Barb, Gary, or me know by Saturday, February 2nd (or sooner is always welcome!) what your plans are for attending the reunion and/or the Glacier trip, and if going to Glacier, whether you will be camping or staying in a motel.

We hope you can join us, as we are looking forward to seeing you again!

Love,
Mike

  1. That sounds good. I'm glad we're doing a family reunion again.

    Here are some suggestions:
    1) Family Reunion Lagoon Day: Lagoon is located in Farmington Utah. They have family reunion discounts. Just go to http://www.lagoonpark.com/ and click on "Groups" then "Reunions". Lagoon is a huge amusement park that has a lot of roller coasters, rides, etc.

    2) Water Parks: There is also the "Seven Peaks" water parks located in Salt Lake or Provo Utah. The website is http://www.sevenpeaks.com . They seem to have group discounts as well.

    3) Hike and explore Mount Timpanogos Cave: They do cave tours if you arrange it. The cave is unique in that it has many crystal-like structures. The website is http://www.nps.gov/tica/index.htm .

    4) Lava Hot Springs: Lava Hot Springs has natural hot springs. The website is http://www.lavahotsprings.com/ .It is located in Idaho.

These are just some suggestions. Most of the Utah relatives are familiar with the suggestions I mentioned above.

    Love,

    Dallin

  2. It sounds really exciting to be able to have the reunion take place after all! To spend time with the siblings is especially great and also with
other relatives as well. I would love to go to Glacier but my boys will not be able to but they probably will attend some of the Utah
festivities. I prefer to camp in a tent at Glacier. Thank you! Love, Bev

  3. I don't think this is going to work for us. I was hoping that we could visit Joyette's family the week of July 8-12, but we found out the cousins that are Cade's peers are going to scout camp and young women's camp that week. Even though we probably could take Cade out of the pre-season conditioning practices July 15-19, the week after the proposed Glacier trip is mandatory football practice for Cade, so Cade can't spend time with his cousins then. Joyette feels that we will have to go to Utah sometime in early to mid-June. And I cannot make two trips out west this summer. If it works well for the rest of the family, I guess you should go ahead and have the reunion without us.
    Love,
    Gary

  4. Comment from Barb Bergman (made by Mike upon her request):
    ==========================================================
The Bergman family can attend Glacier, and as it gets closer we will see if we can come to Utah then travel to Glacier. It is 10 hours to Utah then I think you all figure approx 10 hours to Glacier. We are about 7 hours from Glacier here in WA so we may just meet you all there. Mike and I did discuss possibly sending Ryan down and he would then travel up to Glacier with Mike's family and we would join at Glacier. Some of that depends on Ryan's summer job. He will be working this summer with a mission at some point. He will be putting in papers this spring for a mission and graduating June 1. Most of the kids here once their mission call is received are not leaving for 4-5 months. So we will see how that works out but he will for sure be here through July:)Matt is at school at BYUI and goes through about July 24 so if he is in finals that won't work for him, but yet tbd.

    It all sounds fun!
